No surprises here either
Privacy
What data this blog collects, when and why. In a few lines and in plain words.
This blog uses no profiling cookies and no analytics tools. It collects data only when you choose to use one of its forms: the two at the bottom of each story and “Write to me” on the home page. What you write reaches only me and is never published on the site.
Who handles the data
I do: Anna Bigazzi, the author of the blog. For any question or request about your data you can write to me from the “Write to me” section of the home page.
The “Yes, it helped me” button
When you press it, the site sends me three pieces of information: the story you were reading, the language and the address of the page. I receive neither your name nor your email.
It helps me understand which stories are most useful to people travelling in a wheelchair.
A small note (not a cookie) is saved in your browser to remember that you have already pressed the button on that story, so the click isn’t counted twice.
The “Leave feedback” form
When you send it I receive: the name you entered, your email address (only if you gave one), the message, the story you are writing from and the language.
I use these details only to read your message and, if you left your email, reply to you. Your email is not published on the site and I don’t use it for newsletters or advertising.
I can do this because you allow me to, with the consent box you tick before sending.
The “Write to me” section
When you write to me from the home page I receive: your name, your email address, the topic you chose, the message and the language of the page.
Here the email is required, because I need it to reply to you: I don’t publish it and I don’t use it for newsletters or advertising. Here too I can use your details because you allow me to, with the consent box.
Where the data goes
The forms are handled by Netlify, the service that hosts the site (Netlify, Inc., based in the United States). Netlify stores the messages on my behalf and, like any web service, processes some technical data, such as your IP address and browser type. It also checks automatically that messages are not spam, using the Akismet service.
I read the messages in the Netlify dashboard and may receive a notification in my mailbox. Here is Netlify’s privacy policy.
For how long
I keep messages for as long as it takes to reply to you and delete them when they are no longer needed.
What you can ask me
At any time you can ask me what data of yours I hold, ask me to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent: just write to me from “Write to me”. If you believe your data is being handled improperly, you can contact the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
Other things to know
- Fonts. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts: to do so your browser contacts Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.
- Text size. If you use the “Larger text” button, your choice is saved in your browser so it is there on your next visit.
- External links. When you follow a link to another site, that site’s rules apply.
